About this beer
Hof ten Dormaal Framboesa Y Chocolate is an aged sour ale with raspberries and chocolate added, originating from Belgium and brewed by Brouwerij Hof ten Dormaal, a family-run farm brewery emphasizing traditional techniques. Crafted with barley malt, raspberries, hops, cocoalot, sugar, and yeast, this 7% ABV ale undergoes a unique labor of love—aging for six months in oak barrels with freshly harvested raspberries before chocolate is added just five days prior to packaging. The brewery notes a distinctive, smooth sourness inherent to the region around their farm in Tildonk.
The label artwork features a striking, abstract depiction of a raspberry, rendered in shades of red and black against a white background, with stylized text and a decorative, swirling design. This carefully handcrafted beer boasts a content of 11.2 fl oz and carries the government warning regarding the risks of alcohol consumption. The beer is produced using wheat, spelt, and hops – the fundamental ingredients, according to the label, of this brewery’s offerings.
