About this beer
Balance of Sour is a 6.5% ABV Belgian-style Flanders ale from Taxman Brewing Co., part of their Reserve Series of limited release brews. With an IBU of 15, this meticulously blended young and aged beer achieves a malty body and a balanced tartness. The flavor profile is described as vinous and soft, exhibiting notes of raspberry, cherry, and plum, chased by subtle oak tannins. Brewed and packaged in Bargersville, Indiana, the beer is characterized as funky, wild, and sour – qualities derived from the brewing process.
The label artwork features a dramatic, ornate design framed by flourishes and scales of justice, hinting at the “balance” within the beer. A silhouette of a man in a top hat, resembling a tax collector, sits above the scales, with detailed imagery of barley and hops filling the lower portion of the design. The label also includes the standard Surgeon General's warning regarding responsible alcohol consumption.
