Our Editorial Process
At BevWire, we believe readers deserve to know how their news is made. Transparency isn't just a buzzword for us—it's how we build trust with the brewers, distillers, winemakers, and readers who rely on our coverage.
How We Gather Industry News
Most of our industry press coverage starts with public announcements from beverage companies distributed through a variety of presswire and beverage news services. We monitor these releases daily, looking for stories that actually matter to people in the industry.
Our first filter is simple: does this affect someone's business? A distribution deal that puts a small brewery into three new states matters. A press release about a new VP of marketing at a multinational conglomerate usually doesn't. We apply this lens to every story we consider.
Our Content Pipeline
When we identify a relevant press release, it goes through a two-stage process:
Stage 1: Relevance Assessment
We evaluate whether the story fits our coverage areas (beer, wine, or spirits) and whether it contains information our readers can actually use. This isn't about whether the news is "positive" or "negative"—it's about whether it's useful.
Stage 2: Article Writing
For stories that pass our relevance check, we write articles that include:
- Context: What this news means in the broader industry picture
- Key details: Who announced what, when, and why it matters
- Original press release: The full announcement for readers who want the unfiltered source
Each article is tagged and titled to make it discoverable by readers interested in specific topics, companies, or trends.
Deep Dive Editorial Content
Our original reporting follows a different process entirely. These are the in-depth profiles and brewery deep-dives that take weeks or months to produce.
For these pieces, we:
- Research extensively: Multiple sources, verified facts, cross-checked details
- Visit when possible: We try to see the spaces we're writing about
- Interview stakeholders: Brewers, owners, staff, customers—people with actual knowledge
- Cite our sources: Every claim traces back to something verifiable
- Review carefully: Structure, flow, and factual accuracy get multiple passes
Factual Accuracy
Every detail in our articles must be corroborated. We do two passes over each piece specifically for factual accuracy. If we can't verify something, we don't include it.
This is non-negotiable. If we send an article to a brewery and they point out errors, that's on us. We take that seriously.
Corrections and Updates
We make mistakes sometimes. When we do, we correct them promptly and clearly. If you spot an error in our coverage, email us at staff@bevwire.com with:
- The article title
- The correction needed
- Your source for the correct information
We'll review and update as warranted.
Independence and Transparency
BevWire is a subsidiary of StoreGuard LLC, an Ohio-registered company (DUNS: 118076565). Our articles of organization are on file with the Ohio Secretary of State and available for review.
We maintain editorial independence in our coverage. No one pays us for favorable treatment, and we don't accept sponsored content disguised as journalism. Our revenue comes from display advertising clearly marked as such—not from the breweries, wineries, or distilleries we cover.
