The News

The United States Bartenders’ Guild and Tales of the Cocktail Foundation have announced a partnership to support mission-aligned initiatives. The collaboration includes the inaugural United States Cocktail Championship (USCC) National Final during Tales of the Cocktail 2026 in New Orleans, July 19-24. The USCC, launched in 2026, will identify and celebrate American bartending talent for international competitions.

US Bartenders’ Guild (USBG) and Tales of the Cocktail Foundation announced a partnership that will host the United States Cocktail Championship (USCC) national final in 2026. The collaboration is aimed at elevating American bartending talent and creating new marketing opportunities for brands and distributors.

The USCC national final is scheduled for July 19‑24, 2026, in New Orleans. Competitors will come from more than 70 countries—mirroring the 72‑country field that entered the IBA World Cocktail Competition in 2024—underscoring the event’s international reach.

Tales of the Cocktail attracts over 15,000 industry professionals each year and offers a platform for networking and brand exposure. USBG brings together more than 5,000 members across 40 chapters, providing a robust talent pipeline that feeds into the competition.

Distributors should anticipate an increased presence of bartenders and brand ambassadors during the event, which could drive demand for cocktail kits, spirits, and bar tools. A modest allocation of cocktail‑ready products in July and August would position distributors to meet this anticipated need.

The mid‑July timing aligns with a period when many bars introduce new seasonal cocktails, offering an opportune window for brands to showcase new ingredients.

Bars can leverage the national final as a marketing lever by highlighting participation—such as “Our bartenders were finalists”—on menus and social media, thereby reinforcing their status as craft cocktail destinations.

Retailers may use the event’s visibility to promote complementary items such as specialty bitters or small‑batch mixers in a summer promotion. Even if the competition itself is not sold on shelves, consumers who hear about it often seek ingredients that can recreate award‑winning drinks at home.

Overall, the partnership establishes a new national platform for U.S. bartending talent and signals potential demand spikes for premium cocktail components around July. Distributors, bars, and retailers should monitor this event to capitalize on the opportunities it presents.

Mission-aligned initiatives include National Finals of the United States Cocktail Championship

HENDERSON, NV - Today, the United States Bartenders’ Guild, the national, member-led not-for-profit association of bartenders and other hospitality professionals, and Tales of the Cocktail Foundation jointly announce a new partnership. The two leading bar and cocktail community organizations will work together on a variety of mission-aligned initiatives with the goal of uniting and elevating the bar industry through education, community, and advocacy.

The initial collaboration will happen in parallel with Tales of the Cocktail 2026 in New Orleans, July 19-24. There, a champion will be crowned in the inaugural United States Cocktail Championship (USCC) National Final.

Launched in 2026, the USCC is a nationwide competition designed to identify, elevate, and celebrate American bartending talent—from local communities to the global stage. Through this program, USBG selects Team USBG, the bartenders who will represent the United States in competition against the top bartenders from more than 70 countries on the global stage at the IBA (International Bartender Association) World Cocktail Competition (WCC) in Macau, China, and IBA Invitational competitions throughout the year across the continents.

Said USBG Executive Director Bo Shuff, “Tales of the Cocktail Foundation, through their events, education, and awards, serves a vital role in building the beverage and hospitality community worldwide. Our work at the US Bartenders’ Guild dovetails with those efforts by strengthening communities city by city, region by region. We’re thrilled to collaborate with Tales on expanding the stories we collectively share about the people who make our community what it is.”

Tales of the Cocktail Foundation Executive Director Charlotte Voisey commented, “We are pleased to be collaborating with the USBG in ways that ultimately provide greater access for more bartenders to the educational experiences that can further their professional development.”

Tickets for Tales of the Cocktail 2026 go on sale May 13.
