The News
Lone Tree Brewing and Elite Brands have announced a distribution partnership to supply Lone Tree beer across Colorado. The same brands previously distributed by Western Distributing are now available in Elite’s network, including the flagship Mexican Lager and newly released Peach Wheat Ale. Lone Tree’s other year-round beers and seasonal releases will also be part of Elite’s portfolio. The spring seasonal Czech Lager is available while supplies last.
Colorado’s craft scene gets a new player‑in-the‑middle
Lone Tree Brewing has signed a statewide distribution deal with Elite Brands, so its Mexican Lager, Peach Wheat Ale and other year‑round offerings will reach every Colorado shelf and taproom for the first time. The 15‑year‑old Denver‑area brewer is now tapping into Elite’s dense network of more than 3,000 retail accounts across the state.
The partnership marks a strategic shift in a shrinking category. A Brewbound report shows U.S. craft beer volume fell 4 % in 2025, so expanding distribution can feel risky even as it offers new shelf space and inventory turns for distributors who want to keep lagers moving.
Elite Brands’ footprint is already well‑established in Colorado’s retail and on‑premise markets. Lone Tree’s production last year totaled 3,727 barrels, filling 427,008 twelve‑ounce cans—about 70 % of the brewery’s packaged output coming from its flagship Mexican Lager, Red Ale and Blueberry Blonde. The move to Elite is an effort to trim logistics costs and gain tighter control over how lagers are stocked and promoted.
What this means for distributors
- Inventory coordination: With Elite handling shipping, wholesalers should lock pricing tiers before the first shipment arrives and coordinate order windows tightly to avoid over‑stocking lagers that could cannibalize their own core lines.
- Shelf space management: Retailers will need to manage shelf rotation carefully. The Mexican Lager’s distinct hop profile can complement a taproom’s craft lineup, but its strong flavor may compete with existing lagers in the same price bracket. Slotting it near specialty or seasonal offerings can create a new experience narrative without displacing staple lagers.
- Turnover focus: Elite’s established on‑premise sales pipeline means bars and restaurants can expect a steady flow of Lone Tree products, but they should keep an eye on inventory turns to avoid markdowns.
By moving into Elite’s distribution network, Lone Tree is positioning itself for broader reach while navigating the challenges of a contracting craft beer market.
Original Press Release
LONE TREE, COLORADO— Lone Tree Brewing and Elite Brands announced this week a new distribution partnership to supply Lone Tree beer across Colorado.
The same Lone Tree brands previously distributed by Western Distributing are now available across Elite’s distribution footprint in the Centennial State, including the flagship Mexican Lager that recently brought home a World Beer Cup® and the newly released Peach Wheat Ale. Lone Tree’s other year-round beers— IPA, Blueberry Blonde Ale, Red Ale, and Double IPA— as well as their seasonal and specialty releases will join Elite’s storied portfolio. The Lone Tree spring seasonal Czech Lager is available now while supplies last.
“We’re excited to welcome Lone Tree Brewing into the Elite Brands portfolio,” said Terry Cekola, Founder and President of Elite Brands. “Lone Tree has a long history of making consistent and true-to-style beers. As a fellow independently owned company, their values align with Elite Brands. It makes sense to partner and help them grow.”
With the reach of Elite’s network, Lone Tree products will now be offered statewide for the first time. “We are so excited to expand our footprint with the experienced team at Elite Brands,” says John Winter, Lone Tree Brewing Founder. “As we near our fifteenth anniversary, distribution to the entire state is a huge milestone.”
