The News

Jittery Joe’s Coffee and ASW Distillery have reunited for the return of Fiddler Bourbon Barrel-Aged Coffee, a limited-edition product that ages Nicaraguan coffee beans in freshly emptied bourbon barrels from ASW's Fiddler line. The result is a smooth, aromatic coffee with notes of toffee, clove, and oak, crafted through a process rooted in Georgia’s craft culture.

The Takeaway

  • Bourbon Meets Coffee: The Fiddler bourbon from ASW was used to age Jittery Joe’s coffee beans, creating a distinct flavor with notes of toffee and oak. This collaboration shows how spirits can enhance coffee, offering a new experience for craft beverage lovers.
  • Georgia Craft Spotlight: Both brands are rooted in Georgia—Jittery Joe’s in Athens and ASW in Atlanta—and their partnership highlights the state's rising influence in both coffee and whiskey production. It underscores how local ingredients and small-batch processes are gaining traction.
  • Limited-Edition Strategy: The product is a limited-time release, emphasizing exclusivity and craftsmanship. This approach appeals to consumers looking for unique, handcrafted beverages rather than mass-produced options.

Original Press Release

Jittery Joe’s Coffee and ASW Distillery come together this spring for the return of Fiddler Bourbon Barrel-Aged Coffee, a limited-edition release uniquely combining expertly crafted coffee with award-winning Georgia bourbon, resulting in a flavor experience not found elsewhere.

The collaboration pairs Jittery Joe’s globally sourced beans with ASW’s Fiddler bourbon program, resulting in a process rooted in both craft and curiosity. Green coffee beans sourced from Nicaragua’s Selva Negra are aged in freshly emptied Fiddler bourbon barrels, absorbing subtle notes of toffee, clove, and oak before being roasted in Athens. The result is a layered, aromatic cup with a smooth, lingering finish that reflects both brands.

For Jittery Joe’s Coffee, collaborations have long been part of the brand’s identity, shaped by Athens’ music, arts, and creative culture, with past partnerships spanning musicians, local institutions, and community-driven initiatives across the South. For Atlanta-based ASW Distillery, the Fiddler name reflects a hands-on approach to whiskey-making, using very small batches and toasted barrel finishing to combine carefully selected barrels, and a willingness to experiment, refine, and revisit each release. Together, the two continue to explore the intersection of coffee and spirits in a way that feels distinctly Georgia.

“This collaboration has always been about shared values, craft curiosity, and a deep respect for process,” says ASW co-founder Jim Chasteen. “It’s a natural fit and one that allows us to work with our friends at Jittery Joe’s, who have been creating for us and our friends and family for decades. It is an honor to be able to combine our cultures.”

To mark the release, Jittery Joe’s and ASW Distillery team up with Last Resort Grill (174-184 W Clayton St, Athens, GA 30601) for a one-night Breakfast for Dinner Happy Hour on April 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Athens. The evening brings together brunch favorites, ASW bourbon cocktails, and tastings of the limited-release Fiddler Bourbon Barrel-Aged Coffee, with the Last Resort team opening the brunch archives for the occasion. Tickets are $45 and include two cocktails, breakfast-inspired bites, and coffee tastings. A $20 add-on offers a custom can of the barrel-aged coffee. Tickets are available for purchase here. With more collaborations on the horizon, the release continues a long-standing approach for Jittery Joe’s. Great coffee has never existed in isolation; it is shaped by the people, places, and partnerships that surround it.

Jittery Joe’s Fiddler Bourbon Barrel-Aged Coffee is available in limited quantities, packaged in custom cans as whole bean coffee while supplies last. For more information or to shop online, visit Jittery Joe’s online store and follow along on Instagram at @jitteryjoescoffee.
