The News

CRU Winery announced a partnership with American Northwest Distributors to expand its distribution into the Pacific Northwest. The partnership will bring single-vineyard wines from California’s Santa Lucia Highlands into ANW’s portfolio. The collaboration will increase CRU Winery’s national distribution to 30 states. The announcement was made on April 7, 2026, in Soledad, CA.

CRU Winery’s partnership with American Northwest Distributors brings the California boutique into Washington, Oregon, and Idaho—regions where wine consumption is falling but local competition remains fierce.

For operators deciding on shelf space, the deal signals how a brand that has already grown 438 % in volume since 2019 can offset broader category headwinds.

The U.S. wine market declined –1.2 % CAGR over the same period, underscoring the challenge of securing shelf room while competition tightens.

With over 1 200 bonded wineries across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho as of 2024, the Pacific Northwest’s contracting consumption squeezes shelf space; distributors that can deliver differentiated stories become more valuable.

ANW’s tech‑enabled ordering platform promises tighter inventory control and faster replenishment—qualities that help retailers avoid stockouts of premium wines.

The partnership leverages CRU’s national reach via Serendipity Wines in California and ANW’s tech-enabled platform and regional expertise. Together, they aim to ease the logistical hurdles that new entrants often encounter.

On‑premise operators can benefit in two ways. First, CRU’s single‑vineyard wines cater to consumers seeking authenticity, which can help on‑premise venues attract guests. Second, ANW’s stable inventory pipeline lowers the risk of over‑stocking or under‑replenishment—common pitfalls with unfamiliar brands.

Distributors should note that the partnership does not grant exclusive rights; ANW will carry CRU products across its service territory. Other regional distributors should assess whether CRU fits their SKU mix and if the brand’s growth trajectory warrants additional marketing spend.

The deal demonstrates how a winery’s internal resilience—shown by its volume growth—can offset a declining category and crowded regional market.

American Northwest Distributors now covers Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, positioning CRU for the 1 200+ bonded wineries seeking fresh shelf space in the Pacific Northwest.
