The News
Bouchaine Vineyards announced on June 15, 2026, that David Eriksen has joined the company as Direct-to-Consumer Director. Eriksen has over two decades of experience in hospitality and wine, having worked at Mirassou Winery, Princess Cruises, Carmel Valley Ranch, Pebble Beach Resorts, HALL Family Wines, and Pine Ridge Vineyards. He will work with industry leaders at Bouchaine, including President and Winemaker Chris Kajani.
Bouchaine Vineyards’ appointment of a dedicated Direct‑to-Consumer (DTC) director signals more than a staffing change—it reflects the estate’s focus on the segment that now accounts for about one‑sixth of U.S. wine shipments, according to Wine Institute data.
David Eriksen joins with over twenty years of hospitality experience—including managing Pine Ridge Vineyards and serving as chief sommelier on Princess Cruises. He will steer wine‑club innovation, private events, and launch an e‑commerce platform tied to Bouchaine’s new Carneros cave.
Industry forecasts project a 7–9 % CAGR for U.S. wine e‑commerce through 2028; a strong online program could capture a significant portion of that market (16–17 % share). If Eriksen’s e‑commerce launch meets those growth expectations, Bouchaine could capture a significant portion of the expanding U.S. wine e‑commerce market.
Distributors may see a drop in Bouchaine’s wholesale volumes as the estate shifts resources toward direct engagement. Retailers might view the change as a chance to strengthen customer ties by linking exclusive club perks to the new wine‑cave experience. Bar managers may see Bouchaine’s upgraded tasting room as an attraction for guests craving curated tastings; presenting the estate’s wines within a premium tasting line can boost on‑premise consumption and support better shelf placement in specialty stores.
The timing of this leadership shift dovetails with the 16–17 % share of shipments from DTC channels and the projected 7–9 % CAGR for online sales. If Eriksen’s e‑commerce launch meets those growth expectations, Bouchaine could capture a significant portion of the expanding U.S. wine e‑commerce market.
Original Press Release
(June 15, 2026; Napa, Calif.)—Bouchaine Vineyards is excited to welcome David Eriksen to the winery’s leadership team, where he will serve as Direct-to-Consumer Director. A seasoned hospitality professional with over two decades of experience, Eriksen brings an adventurous spirit, worldly perspective, and deep passion for creating unforgettable guest experiences.
Eriksen’s journey into fine wine and hospitality management began at Mirassou Winery, overseeing events and hospitality. From there, he continued to expand his knowledge of wine, food, and culture as he traveled the world working as the Chief Sommelier for Princess Cruises, followed by a lengthy tenure managing service and beverage programs at the legendary Carmel Valley Ranch and Pebble Beach Resorts. His path eventually led him to Napa Valley, where he served as Vice President of Hospitality at HALL Family Wines in St. Helena. He later served as Estate Manager at Pine Ridge Vineyards under Crimson Wine Group before joining Bouchaine Vineyards.
“When I learned I would be joining the Bouchaine family and working alongside industry leaders like President and Winemaker Chris Kajani, it honestly felt surreal,” says Eriksen. “The Copelands, owners of Bouchaine, have created something truly magical here in Carneros—a place rooted in excellence, beauty, and genuine hospitality. It’s an incredible honor to help carry that legacy forward and share it with every guest who walks through our doors.”
At Bouchaine, David will work closely with President and Winemaker Chris Kajani to expand the winery’s hospitality experiences. His role will encompass wine club innovation, private events, e-commerce communications, and the continued evolution of Bouchaine’s celebrated hospitality programming.
“At Bouchaine, we’ve always believed wine should transport people—not just through flavor, but through feeling, memory, and connection. David understands that kind of magic instinctively,” says owner Tatiana Copeland. “He brings his heart to our hospitality, and we can’t wait to see the experiences he’ll help create at Bouchaine among the vines and rolling Carneros hills.”
David studied public relations at San Jose State University before earning an MBA in Wine Business from Sonoma State University. Beyond the winery, he remains deeply engaged in the Napa Valley community through the Napa Valley Hospitality Forum and his board service with Community Action Napa Valley, a local nonprofit organization.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome David as we continue evolving Bouchaine’s deeply layered hospitality,” says Chris Kajani. “There’s always something exciting unfolding here—from our signature winery events to the new experiences we’re preparing to unveil alongside our wine cave completion. David’s creativity, warmth, and expertise arrive at the perfect moment for Bouchaine.”
