NEW YORK / CALGARY — Overproof Ventures today announced the launch of its investment platform focused on emerging alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage brands at the transition from early validation to scalable growth. The platform is focused on opportunities across North America and select international markets.

In beverage alcohol, strategic acquisitions often occur earlier than in traditional technology or consumer sectors—yet dedicated capital at the post–product-market fit stage remains limited. As a result, many brands struggle to bridge the gap between early validation and scaled distribution. Overproof was built to invest at this inflection point, positioning brands for acquisition while capturing attractive entry valuations and a shorter path to liquidity.

“This is blue ocean investing,” said Paul Geller, General Partner. “The buyers are there and they’re acquiring brands. But the dedicated capital to get brands acquisition-ready is scarce. Overproof brings the operator credibility and category expertise to help founders get there.”

Investment Focus

Overproof Ventures focuses on emerging beverage brands and adjacent businesses driving innovation across alcohol, non-alcoholic, and next-generation beverage formats. The strategy targets companies that have achieved early product-market fit and are entering the growth and distribution scaling phase.

The founding team combines institutional fund management, global spirits operations and distribution, and category-specific exits.

Alex Staniloff, Managing Partner, is a beverage investor and operator with deep experience across brand building and distribution channels. He was an early backer of Olé Cocktails, which was acquired by Mark Anthony Group, underscoring his track record of backing brands with strong strategic value.

Ha Nguyen, General Partner, is a venture capitalist with over a decade of experience investing across software, AI, industrial innovation, and consumer technology. She brings institutional investing experience across funds and portfolio companies representing more than US$300 million in invested and managed capital.

Paul Geller, General Partner, is a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience building consumer brands. He is the Founder and CEO of Holy Seed Beverage Group (BASBAS), the most awarded hierbas in the world, with more than 30 international medals, including 12 golds, and distribution across nine countries.
